Lab fees, or more properly, materials and supplies fees, fund the maintenance & tuning of pianos and other instruments, operation of specialized classrooms & computer labs, concert production costs such as sound reinforcement & documentary recording, and materials & supplies in support of concerts and productions - expenses not covered by tuition or state subsidies. Materials and supplies fees for music classes are generally $25, and fees for applied lessons and large non-major lecture classes such as Music Appreciation and Evolution of Jazz are $75. These fees are consistent with or below the fees charged at most univeristies in the state of Florida and across the nation.
